ZETOR tractors presented in Kenya

4.6.2018

On May 15-16, 2018, there was a presentation of ZETOR tractors for the market in Kenya. In the cities of Narok and Nakuru, the partner of ZETOR TRACTORS a.s. in Kenya presented tractors with the power from 80 to 150 hp. The official presentation was visited about 150 visitors.

ZETOR INDIA Private Limited, subsidiary of ZETOR TRACTORS a.s., in cooperation with its partner Automobile Warehouse, Ltd., presented the market in Kenya with tractors of MAJOR, PROXIMA, and FORTERRA model ranges, with the power of 80, 100, 120, 135, and 150 hp. PROXIMA 100 turned out to be the most popular which matches the needs of the farmers in Kenya in respect of power and price. Owners of large farms were also interested in FORTERRA 135.

“Farming is the key area to create economic growth in Kenya; it is essential to reduce poverty and hunger. The numbers of farming machinery are growing in the country as well as the demand for the machinery. This also develops the market with high-quality tractors and farming machines. The offer of tractors we presented in Kenya matches the needs, which has been proved by the great interest of both farmers and bankers who are concerned about the support of loans for farmers,” says Lukáš Krejčíř, Finance and Sales Director, ZETOR TRACTORS a.s., commenting on the presentation of ZETOR tractors in Kenya.

Farming sector is the backbone of the economy in Kenya. It contributes to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Kenya with 25% and it is the source of living for the majority of rural inhabitants. The numbers of farming machinery in the country is growing just like the opportunities for commercial farming. The demand for high-quality tractors is a natural reaction to that. The home base of ZETOR tractors in Kenya is in the city of Nakuru, the farming centre of Kenya. Tractors are mainly used in growing wheat, corn and sugar cane, and generally for cultivation. ZETOR tractors are popular also in other regions, such as Narok, Kericho, and Eldoret.

Since its foundation, ZETOR has supplied Kenya with tens of tractors. The first 25 pieces were exported in 1965. Subsequently, the tractors were exported to the country in 1997. ZETOR INDIA Private Limited, the subsidiary of ZETOR TRACTORS a.s., concluded partnership with the Automobile Warehouse, Ltd. Company in July last year. By this, Kenya has become the fifth African country where the products of the ZETOR brand are exported; the other ones being Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Zambia. In 2017, several tens of ZETOR tractors were sold in Kenya; the plans for 2018 expect higher numbers of sales due to the presentation.
