New success in Brazil

Traditional Czech tractor producer – Zetor – has achieved an extraordinary goal in Brazil for year 2010. In times, when Czech industry is shaken by the world-wide crisis, Zetor is signing the important Contract for more than 600 units delivery for forthcoming season. Generally we can call this message as pioneering for longingly awaited Czech engineering recovery.

“In Brazil we cooperate closely with local tractor producer Agrale, who knows domestic market perfectly. For all reputable tractor producers this market is a great challenge – that´s why our success is even more worthful in these times of heavy competition”, says David Pipal, negotiating team leader.

This biggest South American country, that is the number one in production of e.g. sugar cane, soya, coffee, tobacco or production of beef and chicken meat, has ranked among the highly effective agrarian world-leader especially after successful launching of the government economical “packets” after local currency crisis at the millennium turn.

“Total volume of concluded contract is more than 600 units for next year and this figure represents value of about 6,2MM USD. Moreover this Contract is very substantial for our positions upgrade also in following years,” explain D. Pipal.

As nearly all engineering companies, Zetor was hit by the world-wide crisis in 2009 appeared by a significant goods demand drop and therefore the tractors production went on half comparing with year before. Zetor reacted immediately by a strict and sharp cost cuts. This saving has an unpleasant consequence, when lot of employees left Zetor, especially from administrative positions. Despite the plan for 2010 stays on current level concerning the total production quantity, thanks to quick and effective cost saves Zetor is expecting reversion to profit in 2010 and the Brazilian “New-Year” success confirms this expectations.
